The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or DSD, is a PADI program that lets you try out diving but it is not a certification course.  You can do it more than once but each time must be with a PADI Instructor or Dive Master certified as Discover Scuba Diving Leader certified.  The way we do it is to teach the skills in shallow water at a caye followed by a short dive from the caye and then, after lunch on the caye, do a boat dive on the barrier reef.

We work with a low ratio of maximum 2 students per instructor to ensure safety and the quality of the experience.

Enjoy the beauty of a scuba dive on Placencia’s barrier reef

We start with a  short but detailed briefing on the effects of of water pressure, how to communicate underwater, how your equipment works, and how to enjoy diving safely.   Then, into the shallow waters at the caye to try out the equipment and to learn and practice the basic skills.  Skills include clearing your mask underwater, putting the regulator back in your mouth if it comes out while underwater, and how to control your buoyancy underwater.  Once you’re comfortable, your Splash Dive Center instructor will lead you into deeper water for your first open water dive. This will give you time to become comfortable with the equipment and controlling your buoyancy while swimming underwater.  After a genuine Belizean lunch on the caye, you will go out on the dive boat to dive on the Belize barrier reef.  You will have an amazing time!

This experience is open to anyone from the ages of 10 years old with no adverse medical conditions. You will be required to complete a Medical Statement and if you need to answer yes to any question on the Statement, you must have the form signed by a medical doctor.
